“When suffering resolves in hope”
Beneath the quiet of our daily routines, Saint Paul’s piercing words on suffering and character challenge us to a profound moral auditing of our internal lives. In a world unrelenting social pressures, we are invited to discover a deeper, more durable hope that only comes when our faith is tested by the uncomfortable conflict of the world. Shall we look past the surface of the text to explore how radical grace can transform our personal relationships and our city.
Romans 5:1-8
This Pentecost and Memorial Day weekend, our service reflected on “Sacred Memory, Sacred Vision” — the birthday of the Church, the gift of the Holy Spirit, and the sacred duty of remembering those who gave the last full measure of devotion. The sermon asks us to see the Spirit not as a power summoned to fulfill our private wishes, but as the presence of God drawing our lives into a larger purpose: faithfulness, courage, service, and the flourishing of all. May our memories refine our conscience, our visions enlarge our charity, and the Spirit breathe upon us again.
